Originating in the 1940's, Tanums Fonster began life in the basement of the home of Axel Olsson's, a carpenter in Tanumshede. Such was the quality of his work that the business grew into Tanums Snickeri (The Tanum Joinery Shop) and in 1980 the business focused purely on windows and changed it's name to Tanums Fonster.Today, the company is one of Sweden's largest window manufacturers and produces 80,000 windows and doors each year. It's reputation is renowned for producing some of the highest quality windows and doors in Sweden and Tanums Fonster pride themselves in being able to offer a bespoke service with the flexibility of a small joinery shop together with all the benefits of a factory production facility. All windows and doors are constructed from high quality slow grown Scandinavian Pine providing a virtually knot free appearance that is worthy of nothing less that furniture lacquer internally. In addition to the standard range of stained or painted units, an Aluminium cladding is available for a truly low maintenance exterior finish, available in any RAL colour. Opening window configurations include side hung casement, top hung fully reversible for easy cleaning, fixed lights in many shapes and sizes and complimentary sliding patio doors together with inward and outward opening French doorsets. The French doorsets also boast an integral brake mechanism as standard, enabling the doors to be held at any point throughout their natural swing giving maximum flexibility of use. Standard glazing in the Tanum Fonster windows and doors is one of the highest available in the market place comprising triple glazing with Argon gas and soft coat "ultra glass" with high performance spacer bars. The performance far exceeds current Building Regulation requirements and will allow maximum use of glass within dwelling designs without compromising heat loss.
